The first state poll is out today and eleven Section Five teams make the list sponsored by the New York State Sportswriters Association.

In Class A, Fairport is in the number 8 position while the Greece Thunder (Ath/Ody) and Pittsford make the Honorable Mention list.

In Class B, Canandaigua starts out in the Number one slot. Brighton is listed as Number 15 while Irondequoit, McQuaid Jesuit and Thomas make Honorable Mention.

In Class C, Penn Yan starts out in number 5 and Aquinas is in at number 11 while Palmyra-Macedon is on the Honorable Mention list.

The top spots in week one go to Ward Melville (Section 11) in Class A, Canandaigua in Class B and Manhasset (Section 8) in Class C.
