Rodriguez`s Five Goals Lead BND Past Gananda

GANANDA-3 at BATAVIA-NOTRE DAME-18 - Batavia-Notre Dame picked up its first win of the season with an 18-3 non-league victory over Gananda on Friday evening at VanDetta Stadium, scoring four goals in the first quarter and eight more in the third to pull away. Seven different players scored for the Irish, who also earned their first win in five meetings against Gananda.

For Batavia-Notre Dame (1-1), junior Trey Rodriguez led with five goals and one assist, while senior Harold Mellander and junior Nolan Radley each added four goals and one assist. Junior Aiden Kopper contributed one goal and four assists, and sophomore Cullam Finn chipped in two goals. Freshman Axel Pietrzykowski scored his first varsity goal.

For Gananda (0-5), sophomore Cameron Richards led with two goals and one assist, while eighth-grader Dante Viavattene scored his first varsity goal. Senior goalie Malakai Thomas picked up one assist, and Dominick Battaglia stopped 18 shots for a 50% save percentage in 48 minutes.
