VanZandt Reaches 400 Career Faceoff Wins

April 23, 2026 - MYNDERSE-ROMULUS-7 at LIVONIA-AVON-GENESEO-14 - Livonia-Avon-Geneseo extended their winning streak to six games Thursday night with a 14-7 non-league win over Mynderse-Romulus, moving to 6-1. Junior faceoff midfielder Rider VanZandt reached the 400th career faceoff win milestone, winning 13 of 20 draws (65%) while also contributing three goals and an assist.

For L-A-G, eighth graders Owen Schweitzer and Stavros Kolokouris each had three goals and an assist, while senior Nikolai Hanna added three goals and an assist as well. Sophomore Will Schweitzer contributed a goal and three assists, and VanZandt's three goals rounded out a balanced attack. Senior goalie Ayden Szymanski made 16 saves, allowing seven goals for a 70% efficiency rate.

For Mynderse-Romulus (2-4), senior attackman Trace Parish led with three goals and an assist, while junior Hunter Kurdziolek and sophomore Owen Levis each added a goal and an assist and a goal, respectively. Senior attackman Drake Filyaw scored the first varsity goal of his career.
