The 2016 Section Five Tournaments began today with a single out bracket game for the Class A Tournament. Hilton was the winner as they hosted Rush-Henrietta.

Thursday: Thomas Beats Pittsford in Overtime
In a game that see-sawed back and forth, Thomas scored the winning goal in overtime to defeat Pittsford 12-11. On the other end of town Penfield defeated Schroeder by a goal in the last minute of the game.

The Greece Thunder was a one goal winner over Brockport in the closest game of the day. Irondequoit had a 13-7 win over Penfield and Wayne took Waterloo.

There were sixteen games played today as the regular season is starting to wind down. Pittsford came from behind to beat host Corning 8-7 in the closest game of the day. Thomas took Irondequoit by two (12-10) and Gananda beat Mynderse 11-8.

A full day of games today saw mostly mismatches but a number of interesting games. Penn Yan took a 10-7 game from Fairport and the Lightning won their game against Brockport in overtime.

Thursday: Victor Remains Undefeated with 9-6 Win over Pittsford
The greatly anticipated contest between Victor and Pittsford was resolved, at least at this point, tonight when Victor overcame a 4-2 halftime deficit and scored seven goals in the second half to beat the Panthers 9-6.

Among the seventeen games played today were two in Webster and they both had exciting finishes. Schroeder hosted Fairport in a game that started with a 1-1 half and ended with the Raiders winning 4-3.

Fourteen of the fifteen games played today were mismatches of various magnitudes. The most exciting game of the day was the overtime win by Spencerport over Brockport.

There were interesting games today and two of the more interesting were won by one goal. Thomas beat Fairport 12-11 and Penfield beat Penn Yan 9-8. Churchville-Chili defeated HFL 16-13 and Irondequoit defeated Brighton 10-7.

Thirteen games were played today with a number of games in the "must watch" group. Victor took visiting Fairport 17-7 and Pittsford took Irondequoit 19-5.

Friday: Penn Yan over Canandaigua, R-H over Lightning 4-3
Penn Yan played a close game for the first half and then took off in the second half, defeating CA 9-5. Meanwhile, Penfield took Orchard Park 14-4 and R-H edged out Greece Lightning 4-3. Batavia used even scoring in their 10-7 win over UPrep.

Livonia over R-H in OT, Waterloo takes Midlakes 7-6
Irondequoit has a 15-9 win over visiting Ithaca while Livonia used a last minute flurry to take Rush-Henrietta in overtime. Waterloo and Midlakes played a close game, but the Indians held on to their one goal lead for the win.

Tuesday: Brighton Takes Thomas and AQ wins in OT
Brighton`s Brady McDermott scored with 0:59 remaining in regulation to secure a 14-13 win over Webster Thomas. Aquinas used two overtime periods to secure their win from Canisius as all but one team in the section played games today.

On the biggest night thus far, there were eleven games played and the closest game was three goals as Gates Chili held off a last flurry of goals from the Greece Lightning, winning 12-9 and Churchville-Chili who defeated Spencerport 13-10.

The game that everyone has been talking about saw two undefeated teams putting it on the line. The fans were not disappointed in the game that saw a tying goal by Pittsford (14-1) with four seconds left and then an overtime win by Victor (14-0)

Thursday: Victor Over Thomas
In what some were calling a possible Class B final, Victor took an 8-1 half to a 17-3 win against Webster Thomas as nine Blue Devils made the offensive scorebook. Freshman attackman Joey Pezzimenti led the scoring with 4g-1a. Chayse Ierlan made 13s (87%) in 38 minutes for Victor. Nick Mabe scored 2g for Thomas.

Penfield Gets One Goal Win From R-H
Of their four wins this season, Penfield has won two in overtime and one by a single goal in regulation. A goal with 0:02 remaining in regulation forced overtime and Penfield secured an 11-10 victory over Rush-Henrietta this afternoon.

Canandaigua 12 - Rush-Henrietta 8
NOTES: In a back and forth game, Canandaigua scored the final four goals to secure a 12-8 win over Rush-Henrietta. The game was a close one throughout with five ties and three lead changes. The Braves came out with the opening goal to take the first lead of the contest. Patrick Bay scored unassisted with the first of his 2g-1a. R-H scored the next goal with Nick Lenhard scoring off a pass from Curtis Raymond. Raymond was one of the big scorer for the Royal Comets with 1g-2a. Jake Hughes also finished with 3g for R-H.

Fairport 10 - Rush-Henrietta 8
NOTES: Fairport scored the first goal of the game and never trailed in their 10-8 win over Rush-Henrietta. The Royal Comets kept the game close, but only tied Fairport once. They fought back to a one goal game with 5:59 remaining in regulation, but Fairport scored the final goal to increase their lead to two and sat on the ball to secure their victory.

Rush-Henrietta 12 - Hilton 11 in Overtime
In the closest game of the tournament so far, fourth seeded Rush-Henrietta scored just 0:07 into overtime to defeat fifth seeded Hilton. After trailing 8-4 at halftime, the Royal Comets fought back hard in the second half, outscoring Hilton 8-3 in the final twenty-four minutes. Attackman Nick Lenhard was the big scorer for the Royal Comets with 4g-1a.

Pittsford Over R-H in Quarters
NOTES: Top seeded Pittsford scored the first five goals in their 12-4 win over fifth seeded Rush-Henrietta. The Panthers largest lead with 11-1 at the end of the third quarter. Attackman Jack Kaufman finished with a team leading 4g for Pittsford.

Brighton 17 - R-H 14
Brighton took the lead in the second quarter and kept the lead for the rest of the game. The Barons defeated Rush-Henrietta 17-14 to remain undefeated. The early game was back and forth with the score tied at 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5 and 6-6 before the Barons scored five unanswered goals to secure the lead.

Overtime Win for Livonia
Livonia scored three of the last four goals, including the game winning goal in overtime, to defeat Rush-Henrietta 9-8. Senior attackman Nick Kallio scored the game winning goal 2:02 into the first overtime period with an assist from Reid Mattle. Kallio finished the game with 3g for the Bulldogs.
