In the third quarter of the Class C finals Penn Yan proved why they have won 21 Section Five Titles. This year was their sixth in a row and 18th in the last 19 years.

With the semifinals concluded, the teams are set for the 2016 Section Five Championships. Victor will play Pittsford in Class A, Thomas will play Canandaigua in Class B and Penn Yan will play Aquinas in Class C.

In a game that see-sawed back and forth, Thomas scored the winning goal in overtime to defeat Pittsford 12-11. On the other end of town Penfield defeated Schroeder by a goal in the last minute of the game.

Aquinas and McQuaid Jesuit both traveled west to play games against St. Francis and St. Joseph (Section VI). Aquinas was a 13-4 winner and the Knights lost to St Joes.

There were sixteen games played today as the regular season is starting to wind down. Pittsford came from behind to beat host Corning 8-7 in the closest game of the day. Thomas took Irondequoit by two (12-10) and Gananda beat Mynderse 11-8.

A full day of games today saw mostly mismatches but a number of interesting games. Penn Yan took a 10-7 game from Fairport and the Lightning won their game against Brockport in overtime.

There were interesting games today and two of the more interesting were won by one goal. Thomas beat Fairport 12-11 and Penfield beat Penn Yan 9-8. Churchville-Chili defeated HFL 16-13 and Irondequoit defeated Brighton 10-7.

There were only three games on Monday. The closest as Aquinas over St. Joe`s (6-4). Pal-Mac defeated Batavia and Livonia beat UPrep

There were fifteen games played today and, as usual, many were mismatches. In the more exciting games, Aquinas needed overtime to defeat McQuaid Jesuit in GRALL action.

On the biggest night thus far, there were eleven games played and the closest game was three goals as Gates Chili held off a last flurry of goals from the Greece Lightning, winning 12-9 and Churchville-Chili who defeated Spencerport 13-10.

Aquinas held the lead for much of the game, but a strong showing by the Eagles gave Irondequoit their second win of the season. Daniel Doktor (2g-2a) led the offensive effort.

The Class B semi finals were close, as both Victor and Thomas struggled, at times, but won their shot to play each other in the Championships.

The game that everyone has been talking about saw two undefeated teams putting it on the line. The fans were not disappointed in the game that saw a tying goal by Pittsford (14-1) with four seconds left and then an overtime win by Victor (14-0)

Pittsford had a close game with Penfield and yet preserved their perfect season with a 10-7 win over the visiting Patriots.

Fairport had a number for last minute schedule changes, but still managed to get a good game in with West Genesee.

There were four games played today. Penfield had a tough one with Smithtown West although there were some good moments.

Nick Tschetter led the scoring for Aquinas with 3g-3a, while Elliot Clemmons led the team in ground balls with seven. The Lil Irish saw over eleven minutes of penalties but their man-down defense held St. Francis to a one man up goal.

The Screaming Eagles came out strong against the Little Irish, but a more consistent four quarters gave Aquinas a win and a 2-1 record. Aquinas defeated Wayne 7-6 with the last two goals of the game. 

NOTES:  After losing to Canisius 8-3 in their second game of the season, Aquinas redeemed themselves tonight defeating the Crusaders 11-5. The win came on the outstanding play by sophomore goalie Tony Deleo. Deleo was 53% in their first contest with nine saves compared to 77% with 17 saves in tonight's contest. Deleo stepped up in the third quarter especially with 7 saves while holding the Crusaders scoreless.

NOTES:  Aquinas stood on the shoulders of Terrance Richards, Elliot Clemmons and Nick Tschetter to defeat Geneva 7-6. The three combined for all the points and 84% of all shots by the Little Irish. Tschetter (2g-2a) finished with four points with Clemmons (2g-1) and Richards (3g) added three points each.

NOTES: Third seeded Aquinas defeated tenth seeded Newark 15-5. The Reds, who were previously the lowest seed currently in the tournament, kept the game close the first half before the Little Irish scored eight unanswered goals in the third and fourth quarters. 

Irondequoit fought back from a three goal deficit to defeat Aquinas 8-7 in a night game at home. The Eagles scored three goals in the final quarter to tie the game and take the lead with 5:43 remaining. Kessel Stefano scored three goals for Irondequoit, including the goal to take the lead.

In the closest game of the night, Aquinas defeated McQuaid Jesuit in overtime 8-7. Senior midfielder Nick Tschetter (3g-1a) scored the game winning goal with 0:02 remaining in the first overtime period. The entire game was back and forth with the score only more than one goal apart for 0:32 in the third quarter. The lead changed in the contest four different times.

NOTES: Senior face off man Elliot Clemmons won 17 of 21 face offs for Aquinas.

The Rochester Chapter of USLacrosse has announced the 2016 Herb Fitch Lacrosse All Star Game player selections. This year`s contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Friday, June 17th at Victor High School. The boys` game will start at 7:00 PM after the girls` play at 5:00 PM.

The All Star list is out recognizing the GRALL players for the 2016 season. Junior defenseman, Tyler Olbrich from Aquinas was selected as GRALL "Player of the Year".
