Aquinas finished their league season with a perfect 7-0 record (15-3 overall) including a win over McQuaid Jesuit during the GRALL Championship game.

For many years the focus of lacrosse at the end of the year would be mostly about the Class A teams. This year that changes, as there will be first-rate games in all three classes when it becomes tournament time.

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle has announced their third AGR Lacrosse team, with Player of the Year honors going to Canandaigua midfielder Marshall Johnson. Canandaigua Head Coach, Ed Mulheron was named AGR Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.

The Rochester Chapter of USLacrosse has announced the 2009 Senior All Star Game selections.

The All Star list is out recognizing the GRALL players for the 2009 season. Junior attaackman, Austin Gorman from Aquinas was selected as "Player of the Year".

Livonia (#3) upset Aquinas (#2) 10-9 in a Class C game. All other games were won by the first and second seeds. Fairport beat Schroeder 9-8, Thomas beat Pittsford 10-8, Canandaigua beat Brighton 15-7 and Irondequoit was a 12-5 winner over McQuaid Jesuit. In the other Class C game, Penn Yan defeated Geneva 9-7.

The top four seeded teams prevailed tonight in each class as Penn Yan, Geneva, Aquinas and Livonia advanced in the Class C tournament and Fairport, SChroeder, Thomas and Pittsford advanced in the Class A tournament. The semi final round is on Tuesday.

Webster Schroeder beat visiting Amherst of Section 6 (Buffalo), 9-3 in an early afternoon game in Webster. Amherst (10-3) is currently ranked 9th on the NYS Class B poll. Midlakes won their game with Pal-Mac.

Aquinas took their second "solo" win of the GRALL Championship with a 13-7 win over McQuaid Jesuit and Livonia took third with a 10-6 win over Haverling. Canandaigua beat Newark 20-3 in Finger Lakes action.

Canandaigua beat Penn Yan 12-11, Aquinas beat Livonia 9-8 and Rush-Henrietta beat Churchville-Chili 9-8 and each game was won in overtime. The others winning games today were Penfield, Geneva, Thunder, Batavia, Thomas, Irondequoit, Schroeder, Brockport, Mynderse, Hilton, Bloomfield-Honeoye, McQuaid Jesuit and Brighton.

Aquinas won a GRALL game against Haverling (13-10) and Mynderse beat Marcus Whitman 13-4 in Finger Lakes D-2 play today.

It was Penfield over Gates Chili (12-6), Irondequoit over Aquinas (10-8) and Thomas over McQuaid Jesuit (14-4). Other winners were Penn Yan, Mynderse over Waterloo in OT, Pal-Mac and Spencerport.

It was a busy night for SportsFive as there were 16 games held under mostly rainy skies today in Section Five. Fairport was able to beat Irondequoit 10-6 at home.

Aquinas traveled to Section VI to take on St. Joe's and ended up with a 13-3 win. After taking a 3-0 led in the first quarter, the Little Irish was 6-1 at the half and 11-1 after three quarters.

Ithaca (Section IV) used overtime to defeat Irondequoit 7-6 this afternoon. Other close games included Penfield 8-7 over Hilton, Pal-Mac 6-5 over Midlakes, Pittsford 8-6 over McQuaid Jesuit and Gates Chili 6-4 over Spencerport. Other winners included Aquinas, Mynderse, Penn Yan and Canandaigua.

In a game that was close right to the end, Penn Yan won a 6-5 victory over visiting Fairport. McQuaid Jesuit beat visiting Loyola Academy (IL), 12-5. Schroeder was a 10-5 winner over Geneva. Other winners include HFL, Brighton, Pal-Mac, Binghamton (over Penfield 13-12) and Aquinas.

here were a number of exciting games today as ten games were played. Churchville-Chili won their first every game against Schroeder (9-5).

Aquinas ended their league season second in GRALL with a 4-3 record (13-5 overall). Seeded second in the Class B tournament the Fighting Irish lost to Geneva in the Section Five finals 13-12 and finished as seeded. Aquinas led by three goals with 1:37 remaining but Geneva scored four goals in the last 1:16, with the winning goal at 0:08, to defeat the Little Irish.

There were only four games scheduled for the holiday weekend. Webster Thomas continued their winning streak (4-0) while ending Aquinas' (5-1). Penfield was a 9-4 winner over Victor, Gates Chili beat the Greece Thunder and Churchville-Chili beat Brockport.

It was another raw and wet day for games today. The HFL-Hamburg game was postponed (no date yet), but Fairport beat visiting Niagara Wheatfield (Section 6), Penn Yan beat Webster Schroeder, Midlakes beat Waterloo and Aquinas beat Pittsford in the games that did take place.

Although a number of games resulted in blowouts today, two were settled in overtime and two others were very close. Churchville-Chili was a 9-8 ot winner against Gates Chili, and Aquinas was a 10-9 ot winner against McQuaid Jesuit in GRALL Play.

With a major change in the NYS Class alignments, Canandaigua and Irondequoit move to Class B, making that class much more challenging, while maintaining that exciting rivalry. Geneva and Aquinas, who have, in the past, elected to move up from Class C, now like the idea of taking on Penn Yan instead of CA and IQ.

Team Rochester was undefeated at 6-0 on their way to win the the first Adidas National Lacrosse Classic, held in Germantown, MD.

All Tournament Teams have been announced for 2008. MVP for A, B and C were Marshall Johnson (Canandaigua), Jim Warner (Geneva) and Matt Osgood (Penn Yan).

Although wins by both Penn Yan and Canandaigua were surprising mismatches, a four goal streak with just over a minute gave Geneva a 14-13 win in the Class B Championships at St. John Fisher College on Friday.

Fans who chose to go to Aquinas tonight to see the Class A semi finals were treated to two of the best games of the season. Canandaigua held on to their undefeated season by one goal as the defeated a fired up Thomas team.

Eastridge (#6) won a stunning victory over Victor (#3) in the first round of the Class B tournament this afternoon. The Lancers scored 9 goals in the first half and ended the game up 15-9. Aquinas (#2) had a 12-5 win against Brighton (#7) and HFL beat Newark 18-2.

Both Canandaigua won their games today to remain undefeated. Canandaigua beat previously undefeated Hamburg (Section 6) 17-9 in a night game at CA, while Penfield beat Fairport 10-2 earlier in the day.

McQuaid Jesuit won the GRALL Championship tonight in a close win over Aquinas and Canandaigua and Penfield both remained undefeated after action today.

Thomas was an 8-7 winner over Fairport, Geneva was a 9-8 winner over HFL and McQuaid Jesuit was an 9-8 overtime winner over Livonia. Other winners on Tuesday include Victor, Churchville-Chili, Irondequoit, Canandaigua, Aquinas, Pal-Mac, Bloomfield-Honeoye and Hamilton (over Mynderse).

Section Five teams won four games and lost two to out of Section games today. Winning were McQuaid Jesuit (10-9 OT) over St. Francis, Penfield (15-6) over Binghamton, Geneva (12-4) over Marcellus, and Pittsford (7-3 unconfirmed) over Frontier.

Both Penfield and Canandaigua remain undefeated with games that were easily won today. Canandaigua beat Mynderse 21-4 and Penfield beat Rush-Henrietta 20-7. Other winners included Brockport, HFL, Churchville, Thomas, Canandaigua and Penn Yan.

Penfield remains undefeated with an 11-5 win over Fairport. In other contests Ath/Ody was the winner over Batavia, Thomas over Brighton, Gates over Brockport, Hilton over Eastridge and Schroeder over Pittsford. Also winning were Irondequoit over Rush, Livonia over Haverling, Geneva over Victor and BH over Midlakes.

Schroeder had a big win today as they defeated Fairport 12-4. Penfield remained undefeated with an 11-7 win over Irondequoit. In other match ups it was Brockport over Arc/Oly, Thomas over CC, Gates over Ath/Ody, CA over Midlakes and Geneva over Mynderse. Pittsford had a 12-8 win over R-H, Penn Yan beat Pal-Mac, Victor was (10-7) over Waterloo and McQuaid Jesuit was a winner over BH. HFL beat Eastridge 5-4 and Aquinas beat Haverling 14-6.

McQuaid Jesuit was able to start the game with Corning West, but it was stopped due to lightning.

Nearly everyone was playing on Tuesday as fourteen games were played by Section Five teams. Batavia won their first ever Varsity games (15-10 over the Lightning), Brockport beat C-C (9-5) and Canandaigua beat Penn Yan in a close 5-4 game. McQuaid Jesuit, and Aquinas were GRALL winners and Pittsford, Gates Chili, Fairport, Penfield, R-H and Geneva had easy wins. Newark beat Pal-Mac 11-8, Mynderse took BH (11-9) and Waterloo was the 9-8 winner over Midlakes.

Fairport avenged their loss to Canandaigua earlier in the week with a 10-7 win over Penn Yan, Geneva made a dramatic statement in Class B as they defeated Aquinas 14-5 while Gates Chili picked up a 10-6 win over Victor and Hilton beat Spencerport 15-7. Rush-Henrietta was a 18-9 winner over visiting Livonia.

Aquinas was a 14-8 winner over Victor in a non-league game on Monday.

Aquinas was a 10-4 winner over Brighton and Canandaigua beat Victor 19-4 in the area, while Carthage beat Penn Yan (16-6) and Tully beat Waterloo (10-6) outside the area on Saturday.

On a sunny afternoon with temperatures in the low 60s, eleven games were were placed in Section Five. The winners included Gates Chili, Penn Yan, Irondequoit, Livonia, and Mynderse. Schroeder took C-C (8-6), Fairport was the winner over Thomas (12-8), CA beat Geneva (12-7), Midlakes beat Pal-Mac by one and McQuaid Jesuit defeated Aquinas 7-6 in overtime.

The fan without a home team had to pick carefully today as there were both close games and blowouts among the games on a bright and beautiful afternoon (and evening).

There were five games on the first Tuesday night schedule. Penfield won a close game with Thomas (11-8). Midlakes won their opener 9-2 over Batavia. Penn Yan was the 13-0 winner over visiting Mynderse while Aquinas won a close game against Churchville-Chili. West Genesee was a 7-4 winner over host Irondequoit.

As expected, the weather for tonight's Aquinas vs. St. Francis (Section Six) game was dismal at best but we' re back to playing the game and we are in up-state New York. Aquinas won or tied every quarter and defeated the Red Raiders 9-5 and Coach Jerry Dawes was pleased. "After a win like today, we are enthusiastic for the rest of the season."

For the first time in eleven years, Geneva posted a win against Penn Yan as they won 8-4 at home on the last day of the regular season.

There were a number of close games with only one regular season day left before the Section Five Tournament begins. Penfield beat R-H in overtime, as did Newark in their game over Midlakes. McQuaid Jesuit won the GRALL championship and Irondequoit had a big win against Fairport.

With league games the mainstay, winners included Fairport or Penfield, Schroeder over RH and Irondequoit over Pittsford. Other winners included Brockport, Spencerport, CC, Thomas. HFL and McQuaid Jesuit.

NIne games were played today. Livonia beat McQuaid Jesuit 11-7, Pittsford was a 12-5 winner over HFL, C-C beat Eastridge 15-8. Other winners included AQ, G-C, Ath/Ody, IHS, R-H and Brockport.

In four games played on Monday, Waterloo, Timon/St. Jude of Buffalo, Aquinas and Pal-Mac were winners.

Canandaigua was a decisive winner over Penn Yan today. Fairport beat Corning East 10-3, Schroeder won the cross town game and Irondequoit remained undefeated with a win over Gates Chili today. Other winners included Eastridge, Brighton, R-H, C-C, Penfield and AQ .

Finally, under bright and sunny skies, thirteen games were played under ideal conditions. Schroeder beat Orchard Park 10-6, Greece Arc/Ath won there first Varsity game and CA lost their first game of the season. There was lots of great lacrosse today.

In a preview of a possible final four Class A game, Canandaigua was a winner over Webster Schroeder 9-7 at McAvoy. Thomas was a 15-7 winner over Brighton and Irondequoit took a 12-6 win over HFL.

The Pittsford/Spencerport game was postponed this afternoon after a Pittsford player was seriously injured during warm ups.

Sweet Home (Buffalo) and Onondaga (Syracuse) were the out-of-section winners while Livonia, Pittsford and Mynderse were the local winners in five games played on Thursday.

Two games were scheduled for Tuesday. Aquinas posted a 15-0 shutout over Batavia and Victor was the 8-6 winner over host, Canisus.

The Rochester Chapter of USLacrosse has announced the 2009 Senior All Star Game selections. This year's contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Saturday, July 11th at Victor High School. The boys' game will be at 7:00 PM and will be preceded by the Girls' game at 5:00 PM.

The University of Binghamton has a long history of recruiting Section Five players and Head Coach Scott Nelson has picked up four more from this year's seniors, including Victor midfielder TJ DiSanto, who signed his National Letter of Intent on Tuesday. Fairport players Chris Bechle and Brian Martin and Irondequoit goalie Eric Fischer are also expected to play for the Bearcats. They will join Kraig Heston (AQ), JT Hauck (Thomas) and Tucker Nelson (Penfield) when they arrive on the Binghamton campus next fall.
