Greece Storm Opens Season with Victory
In a non-league match, the Greece Storm defeated host Newark 9-4.
Junior attackman James Maccallini led Greece with five goals, reaching a career milestone of 50 goals. Evan Roesser contributed with two goals and one assist, while Cameron Miller, a senior defenseman, scored his first varsity goal. Greece Storm`s goalie, Mitchell Barnes, made 14 saves with a 78% save percentage.
Newark`s offense was powered by Sam Underhill, who scored all four of their goals, with one assisted by Evan Shulla. Newark`s goalie, Carter Bumpus, recorded a 55% save percentage in forty minutes, with Corban Puff stopping all three shots he faced in the remaining eight minutes.
Game day highlights included Eric Odell, a junior faceoff specialist from Greece Storm, achieving his 300th career faceoff win.
