Wheeler's 4g, Ricci's Last-Second Goal Lift Victor Past Hilton
VICTOR-9 at HILTON-8 - Victor edged Hilton 9-8 Wednesday evening in a non-league game, moving to 13-2. The game was tied seven times and wasn't decided until Eli Ricci scored with four seconds left. Along the way, three career milestones were reached: Colin Wheeler scored his 50th career goal, Anthony Mitrano scored his 50th career goal for Hilton, and Ricci reached 600 career faceoff wins, finishing 19 for 20.
Wheeler led Victor with four goals and an assist, while Matthew Herendeen added two goals and Ricci scored two crucial ones. Gage Hay added one goal. In goal, junior Will Simpson made 13 saves on 21 shots (62%) over 48 minutes.
For Hilton, Tyler Reger led with three goals and an assist, while Anthony Mitrano and Cahlan Smith each scored two goals. Gianluca Auriuso added one goal and an assist. In goal, sophomore Brendan Maxwell made 12 saves on 21 shots (57%) over 48 minutes. Hilton falls to 13-2.
Victor hosts Brighton on Tuesday. Hilton travels to McQuaid Jesuit on Monday.
