Senior midfielder and face off specialist Owen VanWie recently announced his decision to continue his education and lacrosse career at Mercyhurst University.

Owen, a rising Spencerport senior, will be starting his fourth year on Rangers Varsity this spring. Last year, he produced 49g-15a toward his current career totals of 86g-32a. At the face off "X" he won 69.4% of his 379 draws last year and has a career record of 490 wins and 233 losses (68%). He led the team in both goals and ground balls (201) and his performance earned him first team All League Honors.

In the off-season, he has played for the Fellowship of Christian Athlete team and Harvest Lacrosse Academy. He attended the Nike Blue Chip, Super Sophomore, and the Brine All American Classic where he was named to the all-star team.

Before choosing Mercyhurst, he also considered Stony Brook, St. John Fisher and Tampa.
