[Editor: Right from the beginning, it is important to understand that from 2005 to 2021 there were over 7,700 student-athletes playing varsity lacrosse in Section V. It is not an unreasonable to estimate that there have been more than twice that number since 1922. Since 1971 there have been 208 All-Americans. In the earliest years, there were only 199 All-Americans for the whole country, so the number in each area that played was small. Monroe County and Finger Lakes teams shared the number of awards and picked their own winners. More recently, the number of awards is based on the number of teams playing and the coaches from the whole section vote on players from the whole section.
2000
- AA – Jonathan Manley – The defenseman was a three-year starter at Penn Yan. At RIT he had 6g-4a and he was a first team Empire-8 All-League pick and a USILA All-American (HM) in his senior year.
- AA – Mike Levin – The 70% Pittsford goalie was a two-time first team All-League selection. He was an early decision to Brown where he was a two-time All-American (HM), three-time All-Ivy League, two-time captain and “New England Player of the Year” in his senior year. He Played for the Rattlers, Barrage, Cannons, and Bayhawks. He was an assistant coach at Holy Cross and later, a founder of City Lacrosse, MetroLacrosse and Harlem Lacrosse.
- AA - Nick Allegretti – The Penfield defenseman was a two-time first team All-League pick. At Bryant he was “New England Rookie of the Year”, a four-time All-New England selection and a four-time D-II AA (2nd,1st,1st,2nd). He entered their HOF in 2013.
2001
- AA - Chris Stock – Penfield midfielder had 27g-27a and won 99 faceoffs his senior year – One year at Clarkson and then three at Geneseo (All-SUNYAC) and Geneseo HOF in 2016.
- AA – Brice Queener – Penn Yan midfielder on NYS Championship team (355 career pts) – Georgetown where he played in every game during his four years – MLL (Rattlers, Nationals) – Coach of Women’s team at Rhodes College – Penn Yan HOF.
- AA – Mike Felber – The McQuaid Jesuit defenseman led MC with 230 gbs and many take-aways – Played at US Naval Academy where he won the McKeone Award after starting in all games his senior year including the NCAA championship against Syracuse – Career Naval Officer - McQuaid Jesuit HOF 2013.
2002
AA – Joe Walters – The Irondequoit attackman finished with 268 points and as a three-time All-Tournament team pick and then was off to Maryland where he was a four-time AA, 2006 Turnbull Award winner (attackman of the Year), ACC POY and Tewaaraton finalist – Number 1 Overall pick in MLL draft – Played in MLL (Rattlers, Nationals, Bayhawks), NLL (Knighthawks) and PLL (Redwoods), CLL (Excelsiors) – Played on USA team (Outdoor 2006 and Indoor 2015) - Maryland HOF. Owner of JW1 Lacrosse.- AA – Mike Vanaman – The Penn Yan midfielder scored 42g-38a in his senior year (174 pts overall). In his junior year, as a member of the NYS Championship team, he was named tournament offensive MVP. After graduation he played at Alfred State.
- AA – Chris Renzi – The Fairport faceoff midfielder was named to the Class A All-Tournament Team. He was a two-year first team faceoff All-Centennial Conference winner and third team AA in his senior year at Gettysburg.
- AA – Matthew Green – Canandaigua midfielder named to the Class A All-Tournament Team went on to play at Albany where he finished with 36g-16a.
2003
AA – Brett Queener – The Penn Yan goalie holds record for 896 career saves and played on five sectional championship teams starting in eighth grade. At Herkimer he helped win the NJCAA Championship and was named “National Junior College POY” and a first team AA. He then played for three years at Albany where he was named to the All-America East Conference team three times. – After college he played in the PLL (Chrome), NLL (Blazers), MLL (Rattlers, Nationals, Launch). Charismatic to the highest level, he was named Inside Lacrosse Personality of the year a number of times. – He has also coached at the high school and college levels and has developed players in his camps.- AA – Hans Van Houten – The Penn Yan junior defenseman was named to the All-Tournament team. After graduation he played for Herkimer and was a first team AA. He then played at Bellarmine for two years.
- AA – B.J. Linder – The Webster Schroeder attackman was named to the first team All-League team and made the All-Tournament Team after a 40g-29a senior year. After graduation he played at Mercyhurst.
- AA – Mark Johnson – After scoring 20g-32a in his senior year the Irondequoit midfielder and Captain was name to the All-Tournament Team.
2004
- AA – Stephen Smith – The Canandaigua attackman was a two-time all-league pick and was named to the All-Tournament team in his junior year. At Binghamton he made the All-Rookie team and the All-Academic team in 2005 and was named to the All-Conference first team in 2006 and to the America East Championship team in 2008.
AA – Craig McDonald – The Geneva defenseman was a two-time All-League pick and played in the National High School Senior Showcase, At Albany he was a two-time All-America East Conference selection and team Captain. After college he has coached at a number of colleges including UMass and Robert Morris.- AA – R.J. Lamontagne – The Pittsford midfielder was a two-time first team all-league selection, two-time captain, and two-time team MVP. After graduation he played for four years at Providence.
- AA – Dan Clay – The Penfield defenseman was a two-time first team All-League pick and an All-Tournament Team selection in his senior year. After graduation he played for MCC.
2005
- AA – John Van Houten – The Penn Yan attackman/midfielder (151g) was named to the All-League team three times and in his senior year was the All-Tournament MVP – He played four years at Drexel and in his senior year played in the North/South game.
AA – Mike Thon – The midfielder/faceoff man from Penfield who scored sixty-nine points as a senior and helped his team to Championships in junior and senior years. He was a two-time All-League pick and Team MVP and school MVP in 2009. After graduation he played his freshman year at Bucknell and then transferred to Mercyhurst where he was a Inside Lacrosse pre-season HM AA in his junior year.- AA – Dan Groot – The Canandaigua midfielder was named to the All-Tournament team as a junior and was the tournament MVP in his senior year. He was also named the SportsFive.NET Offensive Player of the Year in 2005 after recording 53g-30a-113gbs. After graduation he played at Maryland scoring 21g-14a in his senior year. During his time there he was named to the ACC All-Tournament team, AA-third team, and preseason second team All-American. In his senior year he was selected as a Team Captain.
- AA – Mike Catalino – The Webster Schroeder midfielder/faceoff specialist recorded 93g-53a and was a three-time All-League pick. Mike was named to the Class A All-Tournament team twice. After graduation he was a five-time All-ACC Academic team member at Duke where he finished his career with 52g-11a in eighty-two games. Since graduation he and his brother Grant created the Harvest Lacrosse Club.
- AA – Jake Boyce – The Pittsford attackman was a three-time All-League pick. He then played for Binghamton where he was named to the America East All-Rookie team in his freshman year. He finished with 61g-21a.
2006
- AA – Dan Mesler – The Penn Yan midfielder finished with 170g and was a three-time All-Tournament team and two-time first team all-league pick. After graduation he played at Pfeiffer.
- AA – Kelly McKenna – A Penfield midfielder, Kelly made the All-Tournament teams as a sophomore and as a senior. He was a first team All-League pick and was named SportsFive.NET offensive Player of the Year after posting seventy points his senior year. After graduation he was off to Notre Dame where he played in fourteen games his freshman year and then all the games in the next three years. He was named a captain in his senior year.
- AA – Ryan Lowe – The Fairport midfielder was a two-time first team All-League pick. After Fairport he played for Ohio State for two years and then transferred to Ithaca. At Ohio State he earned All-Big Ten Scholar-Athlete recognition. At Ithaca after two years, he posted 27g-11a and was a second-team All-Empire 8 selection.
- AA – Mickey Haight – The Irondequoit midfielder/faceoff specialist earned first team All-League honors in his junior and senior years. He was named captain in his senior year and was MVP in both his junior and senior years. He then played for Loyola for three years.
- AA – Steven Carlson – The Penn Yan midfielder was a two-time first team All-League pick and was named the Section V Tournament MVP in his senior year. At Binghamton he was named to the first team All-Conference and was the AE Rookie of the year. In 2011 he played for the Rattlers in the MLL.

2007
AA – R.J. Wickham – The Penn Yan goalie was a four-time All-Tournament pick and an All-Section selection in his senior year where he made 182 saves (67%) for the Mustangs. After graduation he played at the US Naval Academy where in his sophomore year was named to the Tewaaraton Trophy list and was the Patriot League “Goalkeeper of the Year” and an HM for AA. In his senior year he earned first team All-League honors.- AA – Thomas Rynn – The Fairport midfielder was a two-time first team All-League pick after scoring 35g-18a in his senior year. Later, at Duke, he played in forty-three games scoring 13g-5a and being named to the ACC Honor Roll.
- AA – Zach Nash – The Irondequoit goalie had a stellar senior year, earning first team All-League honors and was picked for the All-Tournament team and the All-Section team after a sixty percent saves year (with 166 saves). At Mercyhurst he made the ECC first team, was ECC “Goalkeeper of the Year” and made USILA second team AA as a junior. He was an Inside Lacrosse preseason AA in his senior year when the Lakers won the NCAA DII Championship.
AA – Michael Manley – The Penn Yan defenseman, perhaps one of the best defensemen to come out of the Section, played in five sectional championship wins. He was a four-time All-Tournament pick, three-time first team All-League defenseman, and two-time SportsFive “Defensive Player of the Year”. As a defenseman in his senior year, he scored 23g-12a including 6g-1a in the NYS tournament. At Duke he was a two-time AA (2nd and 3rd), played in seventy-five games, collected 153gbs and had 57 takes, was captain in his senior year, was ACC “Freshman of the Year” and on the NCAA D-I Championship team in 2010 when he was named to the All-Tournament team. In the professional leagues he has played in the PLL(Chrome), NLL (Knighthawks, Wings/Riptides), MLL (Rattlers/Hammerheads).- AA – Grant Catalino – The Webster Schroeder attackman had a demonstrative senior year with 74g-31a (140g-100a career) and was named The SportsFive.NET “Offensive Player of the Year”, Monroe County POY, D&C POW and Under Armour AA and an All-Section pick.
He was a two-time first team All-League selection and a two-time All-Tournament pick. At Maryland he was a two-time All-ACC Academic team member, a three-time USILA AA (HM, 3rd, HM), a Tewaaraton nominee (twice), All-ACC (twice), All-ACC Tournament team, All ACC Tournament MVP and captain in his senior year and a CLASS Second team AA member. In the professional circuit he played for the Rattlers and Knighthawks. He and his brother Mike created the Harvest Lacrosse Club. From 2013-1917 he was the Head Coach at Aquinas.
2008
- AA – Greg Wright – The Irondequoit attackman recorded 38g-59a in his senior year. He was a two-time first team All-League player and in his senior year was the MC-D1 “Player of the Year”. In his junior year he was named to the All-Tournament team. At Cortland he was named SUNYAC “Co-Player of the Year” in his senior year after recording 38-33a and scoring five game-winning goals as he helped the Dragons to its first undefeated season (16-0). He was named a USILA D-III All-American and an Academic Al-American in his senior year as he ended his career with 97g-105a. After graduating his stayed on as an assistant coach for the Dragons.
- AA – Dana Wilber – The Penn Yan defenseman was a three-time first-team All-League pick. In his senior year he was named to the sectional All-Tournament and the All-Section teams. At Drexel he earned USILA All-American and Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2012 as a close defender, long stick midfielder and team captain. He was a two-time All-CAA selection and played in the 2012 USILA North-South Senior All-Star Game. In the professional leagues he played with the Nationals, Rattlers, Bayhawks, and Ohio Machine in the MLL. He has coached at Cabrini, Haverford, Drexel, and Delaware.
- AA – Connor Rice – The Penfield attackman was a two-time first team All-League pick, a sectional All-Tournament pick and in his senior year was the SportsFive.NET “Offensive Player of the Year” and the Monroe County D1 “Player of the Year” after recording 49g-35a in his last year. After a year at the Salisbury School, where he earned All-New England honors, he played for Marist where he finished with 96g-98a and in his senior year was named a USILA All-American (HM), MAAC “Offensive Player of the Year”, All-MAAC First Team. In addition, he was on the preseason Tewaaraton Award watch list, and he played in the USILA North-South Senior Lacrosse Game.
AA – Drew Coholan – The Irondequoit alum was a two-time high school All-American. See his story here.- AA – Scott Bement – The Canandaigua goalkeeper had a sixty-six percent save average in his senior year, posting 198 saves for the Braves and helping the team to a 22-1 record. For his efforts he was named the SportsFive.NET “Defensive Player of the Year”, a member of the All-Tournament team and was a first team All-League pick. At Hartford, he played in thirty-two games and ended with 351 saves (52%). As a freshman he was the America East “Rookie of the Year” and the All-Conference second team (also in sophomore and senior years). As a junior made the first team, while making the America-East All-Championship team as the Hawks won their first conference championship. As a senior, he was named a captain made the All-Academic list (second time). He has coached at Sacred Heart (grad) and Hartford.
2009
- AA – Kyle Van Thof – The Penfield Midfielder was a two-time first team All-League and D&C Super-16 pick. He was named to the sectional All-Tournament team and was the SportsFive.NET “Sportsman of the Year” in 2009. He played for four years at Penn State ending with 31g-38a-53gbs and won the “Citizenship Award”. He was named Academic All-Big Ten three-times.
AA – Brendan Saylor – The Fairport alum was a two-time High School All-American. See his story here.- AA – Marshall Johnson – The Canandaigua middie and faceoff specialist was a two-time first team All-League player, a two-time sectional All-Tournament pick, the Tournament MVP in 2008, and 2009 AGR Player of the Year. He was also named the Offensive Player of Game when the Braves won the New York State Championship. After graduation he played at Fairfield where he was a two-time captain and was named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association second team. He was also selected to play in the North/South All-Star game.
- AA – John Linnan – The Penn Yan midfielder was a three-time first team All-League player and was named to the sectional All-Tournament team in his junior year. After graduation he played for Jacksonville for three years, and then played one season for Palm Beach Atlantic where he was named the team MVP and earned MCLA second team AA honors. He then began a coaching career which included Berry College, Keiser University, and Palm Beach Atlantic.
