Penfield Positioned for Another Run
Roster Outlook

Penfield enters the 2026 season following a 13_8 campaign and returns one of the largest and most productive cores in Section V. The Patriots graduated eight seniors, including defenders Braydon Albro, Noah Banister, and Casey Henderson, along with offensive contributors such as Michael Moxley,
Tommy Obstarczyk, and Bryce Perry. Even with those departures, the team brings back an overwhelming share of its scoring, returning 92% of its goals and 92% of its assists from last season. With 19 rising seniors, 11 juniors, and three sophomores, Penfield fields a deep and experienced roster.
Returning Standouts
Penfield’s returning group is loaded with award_winning talent across the field.
Brodie Joyce, a 2026 attackman committed to Providence, headlines the offense after a standout 45_goal, 50_assist season. He earned 1st Team All Greater Rochester, Section 5 MVP (Class A), 2nd All_Section Team, All_Tournament Team, and All_League First Team Attack (MC_d1) honors. Griffin Banister, a 2027 attackman, adds another major scoring threat after posting 37 goals and 24 assists and earning All_League Second Team Attack (MC_d1) and All_Tournament Team recognition.
In the midfield, Jake Maurer (42g_13a, Colgate commit) returns after earning All_League Second Team Midfield (MC_d1) and All_Tournament Team honors. Manny Castro (15g_10a, Nazareth commit), Harrison Easton (15g_5a, Grove City commit), and Tyler Pavone (16g_8a) all earned All_League Honorable Mention Midfield (MC_d1).
Faceoff specialis Colin Miller, a Grove City commit, returns after going 241+/186_ and earning All_League Second Team FO Midfield (MC_d1).
Defensively, AJ Theodorakakos, a USMA commit, anchors the unit after earning US Lacrosse All_American,1st Team All Greater Rochester, 1st All_Section Team, and All_League First Team Defense (MC_d1) honors. Ronan Boyle, a USMA commit for football, 2nd Team All Greater Rochester, (All_League First Team LSM Midfield) and Alex McVean, an RIT commit, (All_League Second Team Defense) and long stick midfielder, Reid Rivero (Nazareth commit) is back from sitting out the 2025 season due to injury, add further strength.
In goal, Mason Schembri returns after a 59.3% save percentage and earning 1st Team All Greater Rochester, 2nd All_Section Team, All_Tournament Team, and All_League First Team Goalie (MC_d1).
Coaching Information
Penfield continues under Head Coach John Schembri, who enters his 18th season leading the program. Schembri holds a 185_111 record at Penfield, matching his overall scholastic mark, and is a former Penfield player himself. His long_term leadership and familiarity with the program provide stability for a roster filled with returning contributors.
Statistical Overview
Penfield scored 232 goals last season, averaging 11.0 per game, while allowing 171 goals at an average of 8.1. Twelve games were decided by five goals or fewer, including two one_goal wins. With nearly all of its offensive production returning and multiple award_winners across the field, Penfield enters 2026 with one of the strongest statistical profiles in Class A.

The 2026 schedule features several MC1 league matchups. League games include Fairport (03/24), East United_Eastridge (04/10), Greece Storm (04/21), Rush_Henrietta (04/29), and Hilton (05/05).
Other contests include non_league meetings with Victor, Garden City, Archbishop Stepinac, Pittsford, West Genesee, Orchard Park, Spencerport, Thomas, Canandaigua,Irondequoit, and Churchville_Chili.
