2026 Preview: McQuaid Jesuit
McQuaid Reloads With Experience
Preseason Outlook
McQuaid Jesuit enters the 2026 season after an 11–7 campaign in 2025 that featured steady scoring, strong performances in close games, and another deep postseason run. The Knights played in eleven games decided within five goals and showed the ability to compete consistently at the Class A level.

With eighteen seniors graduated, McQuaid now turns to a roster anchored by eleven rising seniors, thirteen juniors, and eight sophomores. The team returns 54 percent of its goals and
42 percent of its assists, providing a balanced mix of experience and opportunity as new contributors step into expanded roles.
Returning Players
Several high‑impact players return after earning postseason recognition last year. Leading the offense is 2027 attackman John Burrows, who produced 39 goals and 25 assists and earned a spot on the Section 5 Class A All‑Tournament Team. His production and experience will be central as McQuaid reshapes its attack following significant graduation losses.
In the midfield, Domenic Giangreco, a 2026 Georgetown commit, returns after a standout season that included 23 goals, 9 assists, and 249 faceoff wins. Giangreco earned second‑team All‑Section honors and was also named to the Section 5 Class A All‑Tournament Team, giving
McQuaid a proven presence at the faceoff X and in transition.
These returning leaders will be tasked with guiding a younger supporting cast after the graduation of key seniors such as AJ Quagrello and goalie Jack Rawleigh, both of whom earned All‑Tournament recognition in 2025.
Coaching Information
Head Coach Alex Gray enters his third season at McQuaid Jesuit with an impressive 31–9 record. Under his leadership, the Knights have maintained a consistent standard of competitiveness and postseason success, even while navigating roster turnover. With a large group of upper‑class players returning, Gray continues to oversee a program built on depth and adaptability.
Games This Year
McQuaid Jesuit again plays an independent schedule in 2026, with no league‑designated games listed. The schedule includes early non‑league contests against Canisius on March 28
and Brighton on April 2, followed by matchups with St. Francis, Marcellus, Irondequoit, and Thomas in mid‑April. The Knights also face high‑level opponents such as Fayetteville‑Manlius, St. Joseph’s, CBA, Corning, Niskayuna, Orchard Park, Rush‑Henrietta, Hilton, and Pittsford.
Games also includes the April 9 meeting with Aquinas. The schedule mirrors the challenging slate McQuaid faced in 2025, which included multiple close games against Class A contenders.
Statistical Overview
McQuaid Jesuit scored 215 goals in 2025, averaging 11.9 goals per game, while allowing 163 goals for a 9.1 goals‑against average. The Knights recorded five wins by more than five goals and played eleven games decided within five goals, including four one‑goal contests. With 117 returning goals and 55 returning assists, McQuaid enters 2026 with meaningful offensive continuity despite the graduation of a large senior class.
