2026 Preview: Livonia‑Avon‑Geneseo

L‑A‑G Returns Its Production

Preseason Outlook

Livonia‑Avon‑Geneseo enters the 2026 season looking to build on the lessons of a 6–11 campaign in 2025. The team experienced a mix of results, with four wins by more than five goals and six games decided within five.

With four seniors graduated, the roster now features four rising seniors, seven juniors, and two sophomores. A key storyline is continuity: the Lakers return roughly 50% percent of their L-A-Ggoals and assists, which provides stability and familiarity as the program moves forward in Class C.

Returning Players

Several returning players earned Finger Lakes East recognition last season and form the core of the 2026 roster. Defensively, senior Brady Ellsworth returns after earning second‑team All‑League honors as an LSM, while Logan Presler, now a junior, adds experience after a third‑team All‑League season on defense.

The midfield and attack units bring back multiple contributors. Will Schweitzer, a 2028 attack/midfielder, returns after scoring 26 goals with 14 assists and earning third‑team All‑League honors. At the faceoff X, Rider VanZandt brings back production and experience following a season with 194 faceoff wins and second‑team All‑League recognition.

These returners along with returning junior defensemen Ronan Class and senior midfielder Nikolai Hanna will be asked to step into larger roles following the graduation of several L-A-Gdecorated seniors, including Joey Cinquino, Max McEnerney, Colton Rose, and Henry Walters. Despite those departures, the returning roster accounts for all of last year’s offensive output, placing an emphasis on development rather than replacement.

Coaching Information

Head Coach Mark Rumfola enters his second season leading Livonia‑Avon‑Geneseo after a 6–11 first year at the helm. His overall scholastic record stands at 16–19. With a full season of experience together and a roster returning all of its scoring, the program looks to translate continuity into improved results.

Games This Year

Livonia‑Avon‑Geneseo’s 2026 schedule includes several Finger Lakes East (FLE) contests that will shape its league standing. League games include home matchups with Newark on March 31, Wayne on April 16, Geneva on April 30, and Pal‑Mac on May 5. These games provide early and mid‑season benchmarks against familiar league opponents.

The remainder of the schedule features non‑league contests against teams such as L-A-GNewark, HFL, Mynderse‑Romulus, Brockport, Bloomfield‑Honeoye, Midlakes, Waterloo, Marcus Whitman, and Gananda. The mix mirrors last season’s slate, offering both continuity and competitive variety.

Statistical Overview

In 2025, Livonia‑Avon‑Geneseo scored 146 goals, averaging 8.6 goals per game, while allowing 180 goals for a 10.6 goals‑against average. The team recorded four wins by more than five goals and played six games decided within five, including three one‑goal games. The Lakers have a unique opportunity to turn experience into improved consistency and results.
