Victor Holds Off Penfield 11-8
PENFIELD-8 at VICTOR-11 - Victor overcame an early deficit Thursday evening to earn an 11-8 non-league win over Penfield, extending its winning streak against the Patriots to six games. Penfield jumped out to a 5-4 lead after the first quarter, but Victor outscored them four to one in the second to take control. A scoreless third quarter kept it close before Victor pulled away with three goals in the fourth. The victory pushes Victor's all-time series lead over Penfield to 11-6 dating back to 2021. No statistical report from Penfield was available at post-time.
Sophomore Eli Ricci carried much of the offensive load for Victor (1-0), scoring five goals while also winning 16 of 22 face-offs for a 73% rate. Junior Jackson Mead added three goals, putting five shots on net. Junior Matthew Herendeen contributed two goals and one assist, and sophomore Lincoln Snyder, scoring his first varsity goal, added one. Sophomore goalie Will Simpson made eight saves on 16 shots for a 50% save rate over 48 minutes.
