Carey's Five Assists Power Irondequoit Past Fairport

IRONDEQUOIT-9 at FAIRPORT-7 - Irondequoit bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 9-7 non-league win at Fairport on Thursday morning, jumping out to a 6-0 lead through two quarters before Fairport rallied to cut the deficit to two in the fourth quarter. Irondequoit held on to improve to 3-1.

For Irondequoit (3-1), senior Dylan Carey ran the offense with five assists, while senior Colin Giudice added two goals and one assist and senior Cooper Moore contributed two goals and one assist. Kieran Stenzel, Riley Grisdale, Travis Horton, Doug Velepec, and Hank Velepec each added one goal, with Grisdale also picking up an assist. Sophomore Matt Long went five-for-18 at the faceoff dot. Freshman goalie Nathaniel Reed was perfect in five minutes of play, and senior Colin Landrigan stopped nine shots for a 56% save percentage in 43 minutes.

For Fairport (0-3), sophomore Grant Ralston led with three goals, while senior Ryan Priddy added two goals and two assists and sophomore Marco Provenzano contributed two goals and two assists. Senior Jack Gosiewski and Cameron Duffy each added an assist. Senior Corey Roeser went 14-for-16 at the faceoff dot (88%).
