West Genesee Ends Penfield's Season in Class A Quarterfinal
WEST GENESEE-14 at PENFIELD-10 - West Genesee built a lead through the first two quarters and held on to defeat Penfield 14-10 in the Class A NYS Regional quarterfinal Saturday at HFL, ending the Patriots' season at 15-5. Liam Kelly led the Wildcats with four goals and three assists, while Jeffrey Mercer added three goals in the win.
For Penfield, Harrison Easton (2g-2a), Griffin Banister (2g-1a), and Tyler Pavone (2g) paced the offense, but the Patriots could never quite close the gap against a West Genesee team that held the lead throughout.
The loss caps a strong season for Penfield that included a sectional championship, coach John Schembri's 200th career win, and a thirteen-game winning streak, a memorable year for the Patriots program.
